Privacy policy
Effective 30 October 2026
In short: TabHop works entirely on your computer. It does not have servers, accounts or analytics, it never sends your data anywhere, and it never sells or shares it.
Who we are
TabHop is a Chrome extension made by Pranav Malwad, an independent developer based in Pune, India. You can reach me at connect@pranavmalwad.in.
What TabHop uses, and why
To switch and organise your tabs, TabHop needs to see some information inside your browser. All of it is processed on your device.
| Open tabs | Titles, web addresses and status of your open tabs, to show them in the switcher and to switch, close, pin, mute, reload or sleep them when you ask. |
|---|---|
| Page previews | A small screenshot of the tab you are currently viewing, so it can appear as a tile. Previews are kept in Chrome's temporary memory and are deleted when Chrome closes, when the tab closes, or as soon as you turn previews off in settings. |
| Recently closed tabs | Read from Chrome so you can reopen them and undo closing. |
| History and bookmarks | Searched only when you type in the TabHop search box, to show matching pages. You can turn this off in settings. |
| Parked tab groups | The titles and web addresses of tabs you choose to park, saved in your Chrome profile until you restore or delete them. |
| Settings | Your TabHop preferences. If you use Chrome sync, Chrome may sync these settings between your own devices. |
What TabHop does not do
- It does not send any data to me or to anyone else. The extension makes no network requests.
- It does not read or change the content of the pages you visit, and it does not inject scripts into them.
- It has no accounts, no tracking, no analytics and no advertising.
- It does not sell, rent or transfer your data, and does not use it for any purpose other than the tab switcher.
Where your data is stored and for how long
- Page previews and the order of recently used tabs: in Chrome's session storage on your computer, cleared when Chrome closes.
- Parked groups: in your Chrome profile until you delete them or uninstall TabHop. You can export them to a file from TabHop's settings.
- Settings: in Chrome's extension storage, synced only through your own Chrome account if you have Chrome sync turned on.
Uninstalling TabHop removes everything it stored.
Your choices
- Turn off page previews or history and bookmark search in TabHop's settings at any time.
- Delete parked groups from the switcher, or remove all TabHop data by uninstalling it.
Chrome Web Store limited use
TabHop's use of information it receives from Chrome complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the extension's release notes.
